Good luck for your assessment centre, and if you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch via the chat function where one of our Talenscio team will be more than happy to help.
Accessing the portal
Unless informed otherwise by the employer, you will receive your portal login details via email and SMS at least 48 hours prior to your virtual assessment centre.
The first time you log in, you will be asked to enter an authorisation code. This code is specific to the device that you are using, therefore if you use an alternative device on the day, you will be required to enter a new code. This will be sent via SMS if your phone details are stored in the portal, if they aren’t it will be emailed to you.
If you will be using the same device on the day of your virtual assessment centre, we recommend checking the box ‘Remember me for 7 days’ to avoid having to re-authenticate.
Talenscio works with all internet browsers, but we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Use the ‘forgot my password’ function and it will resend your details via email and SMS.
If you’d like further assistance with this, please contact Talenscio via the live chat function (bottom left of your screen).
Once you’ve logged in, you will have access to your personalised agenda, and profiles of the assessors who will be involved in your virtual assessment centre.
Please note: your actual virtual assessment centre and agenda won’t appear on your account until the day of the centre
Pre-assessment day preparation
If the employer has requested for you to upload additional information prior to your assessment day (e.g. a headshot and your CV), we recommend logging into your portal as soon as possible after receiving your login details to do so. Once you have completed this, please log in to your account again the day before your virtual assessment centre to utilise the test centre to check that your camera and microphone are working.
If you haven’t been requested to upload any information prior to your assessment day then we recommend logging into Talenscio the day before your virtual assessment centre to familiarise yourself with the portal and access your test centre to check your camera and microphone.
Please note: your actual virtual assessment centre and agenda won’t appear on your account until the day of the centre.
Once you have received your account login details, please sign into your account – if this is the first time logging in you will need to authenticate your account (see ‘how do I access the Talenscio portal?’ FAQ). After successfully logging in, you will be taken to your profile where you will see the option to upload additional information such as a headshot, CV, or pre-recorded video.
If you would like further support to upload your requested files, please use the live chat function (bottom left of your screen) and one of the Talenscio team will be more than happy to help.
Login before assessment day and you will see a tab marked “Camera/Mic Test”. Click on the tab, then click ‘Start Test’, and follow the on-screen instructions.
When you first access your video, you are likely to see a pop-up in the URL address bar at the top of your screen. This will ask for you to give permission to your microphone and camera. If this doesn’t happen, you can manually override it to ensure that they work.
If you’d like further support, please use the live chat function (bottom left of your screen) and one of the Talenscio team will be able to provide support.
Your assessment day
You will need to access the portal for the entirety of your virtual assessment centre as it will contain all of the information and links required to complete the activities, so we recommend logging in at least 10 minutes early to give yourself time to view your agenda, and the profiles of the assessors who will be involved in your day.
15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your activity an ‘open room’ button will appear to allow you to join the room. If this hasn’t appeared, refresh your agenda using the refresh button in the top right-hand corner of your agenda.
Once you’ve logged into Talenscio, you will be taken to your homepage. Next, click on the agenda tab to view your personalised agenda, where you will see when you are required to complete each activity. At the allocated started time of your activity, a ‘view brief’ button will appear on the relevant activity block. Click ‘view brief’ and the relevant activity brief will be accessible.
If you would like to keep the video call small, but move it to a different position on your screen, you can do so by dragging the grey outline of the video.
If you would prefer to make the video full screen, you can do this by hovering over the video and selecting the icon which appears in the top right corner. By making the video full screen, you will no longer be able to see the brief. However if you wish to refer back to it during the call, if you press ‘Esc’ on your keyboard, the video will return to it’s original, smaller size, meaning the brief will be visible again.
There is also the option to open your video in a new window, which is particularly useful if you have more than one screen.
On the bottom pane of your video call, there is a computer screen icon, by clicking this you will be given the various screen sharing options available.
Option 1 – Your entire screen
This option will mirror whatever you access on your computer whilst your screen is being shared.
Option 2 – Application window
If you want to share a specific application (e.g. PowerPoint), by selecting it in application window tab, your screen will only share that specific application with others. If you move away from that application, others on the call will not be able to see that you have done so.
Option 3 – Browser tab
If you want to share a different tab that you have open in your browser, by selecting this option that will be reflected. Similarly to the application window option, if you were to move away from that specific tab, this would not be reflected during screen share.
Please note: When selecting any of these options, if it requires sound to be shared with the people you are sharing your screen with (e.g. you will be playing a video), please ensure that the share audio option is selected, otherwise no one else on the call will be able to hear the sound which is playing.
When you have finished on the call, you can leave using the red, leave button which is located at the bottom right of the call, or if you have opened your video call in a new window, you can simply close the window down.
